REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

Adapter

 

Removal

  1. Perform the Caliper Assembly Removal procedure. If service is not necessary to the rear disc brake caliper (2552) assembly, it is not necessary to disconnect the rear wheel brake hose (2A442) from the rear disc brake caliper in this operation. Support the rear disc brake caliper with a wire hook or other means so that the rear wheel brake hose is not stretched or twisted.
  1. Remove the rear disc support bracket (2B511) as outlined.
  1. Remove rear wheel disc brake shield (2C028) as outlined.
  1. Remove axle shaft (4234) assembly. Refer to Section 05-02B.
  1. Remove four attaching nuts. Remove rear disc brake adapter.
 

Installation

NOTE: Rear disc brake adapters are not interchangeable from right to left and are identified LH and RH.

  1. Install rear disc brake adapter on rear axle housing (4010) .
  1. Install four attaching nuts, and tighten to 41-54 Nm (30-40 lb-ft).
  1. Install axle shaft . Refer to Section 05-02B.
  1. Install rear wheel disc brake shield , rear disc support bracket , rear disc brake rotor (2C026) and rear disc brake caliper assembly.
  1. Clean rear disc brake adapter and attaching bolt threads. Add one drop of Threadlock and Sealer meeting specification E0AZ-19554-AA or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSK-M2G315-A5 (Type II) to each bolt and attach the rear disc support bracket to the rear disc brake adapter. Tighten the bolts to 64-88 Nm (87-119 lb-ft).
  1. Install rear disc brake rotor and rear disc brake caliper as outlined.
