Caliper

Removal

1. Raise vehicle on a hoist. Refer to Section 00-02.

2. Remove wheel (1007) and tire assembly.

3. Remove rear wheel brake hose (2A442) from rear disc brake caliper (2552) assembly.

4. Remove retaining clip from parking brake rear cable and conduit (2A635) at rear disc brake caliper . Disengage parking brake rear cable and conduit end from rear parking brake cable (2A637) .
   
   
   
   

5. Hold disc brake caliper locating pin hex-heads with open-end wrench and remove rear brake pin retainers (2N386) .

6. Lift rear disc brake caliper assembly away from rear disc support bracket (2B511) .

   NOTE: Do not pinch or damage boot material.

7. Remove disc brake caliper locating pins (2B296) and boots from rear disc support bracket .
   
   
   
   

Installation

1. Apply Silicone Dielectric Compound D7AZ-19A331-A (in Canada, Motorcraft WA-10) or equivalent meeting Ford specification ESE-M1C171-A to inside of locating pin boots and to disc brake caliper locating pins .

2. Position disc brake caliper locating pins and boots in rear disc support bracket .

3. Position rear disc brake caliper assembly and rear disc support bracket . Ensure that rear brake shoes and linings (2200) and disc brake pad anti-rattle clips (2B164) are installed correctly.
   
   
   
   

4. Apply a drop of Threadlock and Sealer E0AZ-19554-AA or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSK-M2G315-A5 (Type II) to rear brake pin retainer threads. Install pinch bolts. Tighten to 40-47 Nm (30-35 lb-ft) while holding disc brake caliper locating pins with an open-end wrench.

5. Attach parking brake rear cable and conduit end to rear parking brake cable . Install cable retaining clip on rear disc brake caliper assembly. Tighten screw to 22-29 Nm (16-22 lb-ft).

6. Using new washers, connect rear wheel brake hose to rear disc brake caliper . Tighten retaining bolt to 28-40 Nm (20-30 lb-ft).

   A		Tighten to 25-32 Nm (18-24 Lb-Ft)
   B		Tighten to 28-40 Nm (20-30 Lb-Ft)

7. Bleed brake system. Refer to Section 06-00.

8. Install wheel and tire assembly. Tighten wheel hub bolt nuts (1012) to 109-142 Nm (80-105 lb-ft).

9. Lower vehicle.
