Section 12-03A: Air Conditioning System—Manual A/C-Heater | 1994 Mustang Workshop Manual |
REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
A/C Evaporator Core
NOTE: Replacement of the suction accumulator/drier is not required
when repairing the air conditioning system except when there is
physical evidence of system contamination from a failed A/C
compressor or damage to the suction accumulator/drier.
NOTE: Before an A/C evaporator core is replaced, it must be leak-tested in
the vehicle to verify that it is leaking. Refer to Section 12-00 for A/C
Evaporator Core On-Vehicle Leak-Test procedures. If it is necessary to replace
an evaporator core, the new core is serviced with a service replacement A/C
evaporator housing (19850) which has the new core. It will be necessary to
transfer all vacuum control motors (18A318), heater core (18476), A/C vacuum
reservoir tank and bracket (19A566), heater blower motor switch resistor
(18591), blower motor (18527), vacuum lines and air ducts from the old A/C
evaporator housing to the service replacement A/C evaporator housing.
Removal
- Remove A/C evaporator housing. For additional
information, refer to the procedure in this section.
- Remove heater core from A/C evaporator housing. For additional
information, refer to the procedure in this section.
- Remove A/C recirculating air duct. For additional
information, refer to the procedure in this section.
