REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

Manual Lever Position Sensor

Removal

  1. Disconnect battery ground cable (14301) .
  1. Place shift control selector lever in NEUTRAL.
  1. Raise vehicle on hoist. Refer to Section 00-02.
  1. Disconnect electrical harness from manual lever position sensor.
  1. Remove two retaining bolts.
  1. Remove manual lever position sensor.
 

Installation

  1. Place shift control selector lever in the NEUTRAL position.
  1. Install manual lever position sensor and loosely install two retaining bolts.
  1. Align MLP slots using Manual Lever Position Sensor Alignment Tool T93P-70010-A.
  1. Tighten retaining bolts to 9-12 Nm (7-9 lb-ft) and remove tool.
  1. Connect electrical harness to manual lever position sensor.
  1. Lower the vehicle.
  1. Connect battery ground cable .
  1. Check for proper operation with parking brake control (2780) engaged. The engine should start only in PARK or NEUTRAL.
