ADJUSTMENTS

Bench Torque Test

SPECIAL SERVICE TOOL(S) REQUIRED

Gear Rotator-Traction-Lok T80P-4205-A

  1. Install Gear Rotator-Traction-Lok T80P-4205-A in differential case (4204) .



  1. Rotate the tool until the differential pinion gears (4215) are aligned with the pinion shaft hole. Remove the tool from the differential case .



    NOTE: Inspect the differential clutch spring (4214) for damage.

  1. Hold the differential clutch spring up to the differential case window and with a soft-faced hammer, hammer the differential clutch spring into position.
  1. Install the axle shafts (4234) and rear axle shaft retaining u-washers (4N237) into position. Push the axle shaft outboard as far as possible.

    NOTE: Differential pinion shaft lock pin (4241) must be tightened to specification using Stud and Bearing Mount E0AZ-19554-BA or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSK-M2G349-A1.

  1. Install the differential pinion shaft (4211) and differential pinion shaft lock pin . Tighten the differential pinion shaft lock pin to 20-40 Nm (15-30 lb-ft).
  1. Install the rear disc brakes. Install rear disc brake rotors (2C026) and rear disc brake calipers (2552) . Refer to section 06-04. Perform the Traction-Lok operational check to ensure that the unit is within specification.
  1. Using Silicone Rubber D6AZ-19562-AA or BA or equivalent meeting Ford specification ESE-M4G195-A and ESE-M4G92-A install the axle housing cover (4033) and axle housing cover bolts (4346) . Tighten to 34-47 Nm (25-35 lb-ft).
  1. With vehicle level, fill axle 6-14mm (1/4-9/16 inch) below bottom of filler hole with axle lubricant and add 118 ml (4 oz) of Friction Modifier C8AZ-19B546-A or equivalent meeting Ford specification EST-M2C118-A.
  1. Install oil filler plug. Tighten to 20-41 Nm (15-30 lb-ft).
