REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
Sensor, RH/LH Primary Crash
Removal
WARNING: THE ELECTRICAL CIRCUIT NECESSARY FOR SYSTEM DEPLOYMENT IS POWERED
DIRECTLY FROM THE BATTERY (10653). TO AVOID ACCIDENTAL
DEPLOYMENT AND POSSIBLE PERSONAL INJURY, THE POSITIVE BATTERY CABLE MUST BE
DISCONNECTED PRIOR TO SERVICING OR REPLACING ANY
SYSTEM COMPONENTS.
NOTE: To service stripped outboard sensor retaining screws, replace the sensor
bracket with bracket Part No. 14B190 RH, 14B191
LH, screw Part No. N806327-S190 (2 req'd) and nut Part No W620397-S36 (2
req'd). Tighten to 10.2-13.8 Nm (8-10 lb-ft).
- Disconnect battery ground cable (14301).
- Disconnect positive battery cable.
- Remove engine air cleaner (ACL) (9600)
RH side or battery
LH side.
- Disconnect RH/LH primary crash sensor electrical connector and wiring
retainer.

- Remove RH air bag sensor mounting bracket (14B045)
/LH air bag sensor mounting bracket
.
- Remove four retaining screws and remove RH radiator primary crash front air bag sensor and bracket (14B004)
/LH radiator primary crash front air bag sensor and bracket (14B005)
.
Installation
- Position RH radiator primary crash front air bag sensor and bracket
/LH radiator primary crash front air bag sensor and bracket
and wire lead in vehicle and secure sensor to RH/LH radiator support (16138)
with four retaining screws. Tighten to 10.2-13.8 Nm
(8-10 lb-ft).
- Install RH air bag sensor mounting bracket
/LH air bag sensor mounting bracket
.
- Connect RH/LH front sensor wire lead connector to wiring assembly connector
and connect wiring retainers.
- Install engine air cleaner
RH side or battery
LH side.
- Reconnect positive battery cable.
- Reconnect battery ground cable.
- Prove-out air bag system.
