REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

Safety Belts, Front Seats

SPECIAL SERVICE TOOL(S) REQUIRED

Seat Belt Bolt Bit (#50 Torx) T77L-2100-A

Seat Belt Bolt Bit (#50 Torx) T77L-2100-A should be used for removal and installation of the safety belt bolts on all safety belt assemblies.

 

Outboard, Sedan

Removal

  1. Remove safety belt anchor-to-sill bolt and rubber washer.
  1. Slip finger behind D-ring cover and push bottom of cover toward center of vehicle to dislodge. Lift up to remove cover and remove retaining bolt.
  1. Remove rear seat lower cushion and rear seat back cushions. Refer to Section 01-10.
  1. Remove the upper and lower quarter trim panels (31012) and unthread safety belt from slot in quarter trim panel . Refer to Section 01-05 for quarter trim panel removal.
  1. Remove retractor retaining bolt and remove front safety belt retractor and tongue (611B08) assembly.
 

Installation

  1. Position the retractor to the sheet metal.
  1. Install the attaching bolt. Tighten to 30-40 Nm (23-29 lb-ft).
  1. Put the safety belt through the slot in the quarter trim panel .
  1. Put a one-half twist in the safety belt webbing (clockwise on RH belt and counterclockwise on LH belt).
  1. Install the attaching bolt. Tighten to 30-40 Nm (23-29 lb-ft).
  1. Cycle the system several times to ensure proper operation of retractor. Ensure belt is not twisted.

Outboard, Convertible

Removal and Installation

  1. Position safety belt sill retractor trim cover out of the way.
  1. Remove safety belt anchor-to-sill bolt and rubber washer.
  1. Remove lower seat cushion and rear seat back cushion. Refer to Section 01-10.
  1. Remove quarter trim panel and unthread safety belt from slot in quarter trim panel . Refer to Section 01-05 for quarter trim panel removal.
  1. Remove retractor retaining bolt and remove front safety belt retractor and tongue assembly.
  1. If necessary, remove two bolts and one nut retaining upper front safety belt retractor bracket (611C34) to quarter panel (27840) and remove bracket.
  1. To install, reverse Removal procedure. Tighten all safety belt bolts and nuts to 30-40 Nm (23-29 lb-ft). Cycle the system several times to ensure proper operation of retractors. Ensure belt is not twisted.

Inboard

Removal and Installation

  1. Position front seat forward to access front safety belt buckle end (61202) .
  1. Remove anchor retaining bolt. On LH side, disconnect safety belt warning chime connector.
  1. To install, reverse Removal procedure. Tighten anchor bolts to 30-40 Nm (23-29 lb-ft).
