Removal and Installation

1. Remove front door trim panel (23942) and watershield from front door (20124) . Refer to Section 01-05.

2. Check to make sure that all linkage rods and the front door latch remote control link (21940) cable are connected to front door latch (21812) . Connect any disconnected parts and check operation before replacing front door latch .

3. Remove power door lock actuator (218A42) as outlined.

4. Disconnect front door latch control cylinder rod (22134) by opening yellow clip and disconnecting threaded front door latch control cylinder rod from clip.

5. Remove three retaining screws from front door latch and position front door latch to disconnect door latch linkage rods as necessary.

6. Disconnect front door latch control cylinder rod from front door latch .

7. Remove door open warning lamp switch (14018) from front door latch .

8. Disengage front door latch cable from front door latch and remove front door latch .

9. To install, reverse Removal procedure. Tighten retaining screws to 8-12 Nm (6-9 lb-ft). Adjust door latch striker plate (22008) as outlined under Adjustments .
