Component Test—Backup Lamps

 

Park/Neutral Position Switch

  1. Disconnect manual lever position sensor wiring harness connector.
  1. Attach ohmmeter to sensor terminals.
  1. Cycle manual lever position sensor as required to test all functions of terminals under test.
  1. Check manual lever position sensor resistance between terminals.

    To Test Connect Terminals Cycle Manual Lever Position Switch to These Positions Good Manual Lever Position Switch Circuit Will Indicate
    Transmission Circuit 3 and 2 Park
    Reverse
    Neutral
    Drive
    Second
    First    		 3770-4607 ohms
    1304-1593 ohms
    660-807 ohms
    361-442 ohms
    190-232 ohms
    78-95 ohms
    Backup Lamp Circuit 7 and 6 Park
    Reverse
    Neutral
    Drive through First    		 Over 100 K ohms
    Less than 5 ohms
    Over 100 K ohms
    Over 100 K ohms
    Starter Relay Circuit 8 and 5 Park
    Reverse
    Neutral
    Drive through First    		 Less than 5 ohms
    Over 100 K ohms
    Less than 5 ohms
    Over 100 K ohms
