ADJUSTMENTS

Shift Control Linkage

NOTE: The shift lever should be held against the rearward OVERDRIVE stop when the linkage is adjusted.

  1. Position the transmission selector lever in OVERDRIVE position. Ensure that the selector lever is tight against the rearward OVERDRIVE stop.
  1. Raise the vehicle and loosen the manual lever shift rod retaining nut. Refer to Section 00-02. Move the transmission manual control lever (7A256) to the OVERDRIVE position, third detent position from the full counterclockwise position.
  1. With the transmission selector lever and manual control lever in the OVERDRIVE position, tighten the retaining nut to 17-23 Nm (13-17 lb-ft).
  1. Check the operation of the automatic transmission in each selector lever position.
