REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S)

NOTE: The 3.8L engine uses four heated oxygen sensors (HO2S) (9F472) for the EEC-V engine control system. One heated oxygen sensor is located in each exhaust manifold (9430) , and two heated oxygen sensors are located in the dual converter and pipe. On 5.0L engines two heated oxygen sensors are located in the dual converter and pipe only.

Removal and Installation

NOTE: If excessive force is needed to remove heated oxygen sensor , lubricate with penetrating oil prior to removal.

  1. Disconnect battery ground cable (14301) .
  1. Raise vehicle on hoist. Refer to Section 00-02.
  1. Disconnect heated oxygen sensors at wiring connector.
  1. Remove heated oxygen sensors from dual converter and pipe or exhaust manifolds (depending upon application) using Oxygen Sensor Wrench T94P-9472-A.
  1. To install, reverse Removal procedure. Tighten heated oxygen sensors to 37-45 Nm (27-33 lb-ft).
