EGR Valve

Removal and Installation

1. Remove air cleaner outlet tube (9B659) as outlined in Section 03-12.

2. Disconnect EGR valve emission vacuum control hose and PFE solenoid hose (if equipped) from EGR valve (EGR valve) (9D475) .

3. On 5.0L SFI engines, disconnect fuel charging wiring (9D930) from EGR valve.

4. Disconnect EGR valve to exhaust manifold tube (9D477) from EGR valve.

5. Remove EGR valve retainer bolts or nuts (depending on application) and EGR valve from upper intake manifold (9424) .

6. Remove EGR valve gasket (9D476) and clean residue from upper intake manifold sealing surface.

7. To install, reverse Removal procedure. On 3.8L engines, tighten EGR valve retainer bolts to 20-30 Nm (15-22 lb-ft). On 5.0L engines, tighten EGR valve retaining nuts to 12-18 Nm (106-159 lb-in). Tighten EGR valve to exhaust manifold tube nut to 41 Nm (30 lb-ft).
