Perform Steps 1 through 4 under Fuel Charging System, Pre-Service Procedures if removing fuel pressure regulator (9C968)
while fuel injection supply manifold (9F792)
is installed on engine.
Remove vacuum line at fuel pressure regulator
.
Remove two Allen retaining screws from fuel pressure regulator housing.
Remove fuel pressure regulator
, fuel pressure regulator return seal and O-rings.
Discard fuel
pressure regulator and inspect O-rings for signs of cracks or deterioration.
If scraping is necessary, be careful not to damage the sealing surfaces of
the fuel pressure regulator
or fuel injection supply manifold
.
Installation
NOTE: Never use silicone grease. Silicone grease will clog the fuel injectors (9F593)
.
Lubricate fuel pressure regulator O-rings with engine oil.
Ensure seal surfaces of fuel pressure regulator
and fuel injection supply manifold
are clean.
Install O-rings and new fuel pressure regulator return seal on fuel pressure regulator
.
Install fuel pressure regulator
on fuel injection supply manifold
. Tighten retaining bolts to 3.0-4.5 Nm
(27-40 lb-in).
Install vacuum line to fuel injection supply manifold
.
