Crankshaft Rear Oil Seal

A one-piece crankshaft rear oil seal (6701) is used for replacement on all engines. If replacement is necessary, this type of crankshaft rear oil seal must be used. The complete crankshaft rear oil seal can be replaced without removing the crankshaft (6303) .

Removal

 CAUTION: Avoid scratching or damaging the oil seal surface. Possible leakage may occur.

  1. Using a sharp awl, punch one hole into the crankshaft rear oil seal metal surface between the crankshaft rear oil seal lip and the cylinder block (6010) .
  1. Screw in the threaded end of the Jet Plug Remover T77L-9533-B. Use the Jet Plug Remover to remove the crankshaft rear oil seal .
 

Installation

  1. Lubricate crankshaft rear oil seal with clean engine oil XO-10W30-QSP or DSP or equivalent meeting Ford specification ESE-M2C153-E.
  1. Position crankshaft rear oil seal on Rear Oil Seal Installer T82L-6701-A. Position tool and crankshaft rear oil seal on the rear of the engine. Alternate bolt tightening to properly seat the crankshaft rear oil seal . (Two bolts are supplied with the Rear Oil Seal Installer T82L-6701-A). Engine flywheel bolts may also be used.
