Remove starter motor retaining bolts and electrical connections. Remove starter motor (11002)
from vehicle.
Remove dual converter and pipe as outlined in Section 04-00.
Remove front engine support insulator (6038)
to front sub-frame retaining nuts.
Remove rear engine support (6A023)
and rear engine support insulator (6068)
as outlined in Section 02-03.
Remove steering gear retaining bolts and position steering gear (3504)
forward out of the way.
Raise and support engine in a position that allows for clearance for oil
pan removal.
Remove oil pan retaining bolts and lower oil pan (6675)
to front sub-frame (5C145)
.
Remove oil pump (6600)
and oil pump screen cover and tube attaching bolts. Allow oil pump
and oil pump screen cover and tube (6622)
to drop into oil pan
.
Remove oil pan
from vehicle.
Installation
Clean the oil pan
and inspect for damage.
Clean the oil pan gasket surface on the cylinder block
.
With oil pump
and oil pump screen cover and tube
positioned in the oil pan
, install oil pump
and then install oil pan
and oil pan gasket (6710)
. Tighten the oil pan bolts to 12-16 Nm
(110-144 lb-in).
Lower engine onto front sub-frame
and install front engine support insulator retaining nuts.
Tighten to 97-133 Nm (72-98 lb-ft).
Position steering gear
and install retaining bolts. Refer to Group 11.
Install the starter motor
and reconnect electrical connections. Connect engine control sensor wiring (12A581)
to low oil level sensor
.
Install rear engine support insulator
and crossmember (5025)
as outlined in Section 02-03.
Install dual converter and pipe as outlined in Section 09-00.
Lower vehicle.
Install oil level indicator tube
to side of cylinder block
.
Connect battery ground cable
.
Fill crankcase to proper level with specified engine oil.
Install air cleaner outlet tube
as outlined in Section 03-12.
Apply parking brake and, while holding foot on brake, start engine and
allow to run for a few minutes.
