Exhaust Manifolds

Removal

1. On RH exhaust manifold (9430) , remove the secondary air injection hardware.

2. Disconnect the exhaust manifold from the dual converter and pipe. Remove the retaining nuts and then remove the ignition wires and spark plugs (12405) .

3. Remove the retaining bolts and washers and remove the exhaust manifold .

Installation

1. Clean the mating surfaces of the exhaust manifold and cylinder head (6049) . Clean the mounting flange of the exhaust manifold and dual converter and pipe.

2. Position the exhaust manifold on the cylinder head with new exhaust manifold gasket (9448) and install the retaining bolts and washers. Working from the center to the ends, tighten the bolts to specifications. Install the spark plugs and ignition wires. Refer to Section 03-07A for installation procedures.

3. Position the dual converter and pipe to the exhaust manifolds . Install and tighten the retaining nuts to specification. Refer to Section 09-00.

4. Install the secondary air injection hardware.

5. Start the engine and check for exhaust leaks.
