Timing Chains, Sprockets, Tensioners and Guides

 

Removal

  1. Remove engine front cover (6019) as o
  1. Check the timing chain deflection. Refer to Section 03-00.
  1. Crank the engine until the timing marks on the sprockets are positioned.



  1. Remove the camshaft sprocket capscrew and washer. Slide both sprockets and the timing chain forward and remove them as an assembly.



 

Installation

  1. Install sprockets and timing chain on the camshaft (6250) and crankshaft (6303) simultaneously. Verify timing marks on the sprockets are positioned correctly.
  1. Install camshaft sprocket retainer bolt and washer. Tighten retainer bolt to 54-61 Nm (40-55 lb-ft).
  1. Lubricate timing chain and sprockets with clean engine oil XO-10W30-QSP or DSP or equivalent meeting Ford specification ESE-M2G153-E.
  1. Install engine front cover as outlined.
