Crankshaft, Front Seal

Removal

  1. Remove the radiator electric motor (8K621) , fan blade (8600) and fan shroud (8146) as an assembly as outlined in Section 03-03.
  1. Remove the drive belt (8620) as outlined in Section 03-05.
  1. Remove the crankshaft pulley (6312) from the vibration damper. Remove the damper retaining bolt and washer. Install the puller on the crankshaft vibration damper and remove the vibration damper.
  1. Place the Front Cover Seal Remover T70P-6B070-B onto the engine front cover (6019) over the crankshaft front seal (6700) . Tighten the two through bolts to force the seal puller under the seal flange.
  1. Alternately tighten the four puller bolts one-half turn at a time to pull the crankshaft front seal from the engine front cover .



 

Installation

  1. Coat new crankshaft front seal with Lubriplate or equivalent and place it onto the Front Cover Seal Replacer T70P-6B070-A. Place the sleeve and crankshaft front seal onto the end of the crankshaft (6303) and push crankshaft front seal toward the engine until the crankshaft front seal starts into the engine front cover .
  1. Place the installation screw, washer and nut onto the end of the crankshaft . Thread the screw into the crankshaft . Tighten the nut against the washer and installation sleeve to force the crankshaft front seal into the engine front cover . Remove the installation tool from the crankshaft .
  1. Apply Lubriplate or equivalent to the crankshaft front seal rubbing surface of the vibration damper inner hub to prevent damage to the crankshaft front seal . Apply Silicone Gasket and Sealant F1AZ-19562-A or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSE-M4G320-A2 to keyway groove in damper before installing on crankshaft .
  1. Line up the crankshaft vibration damper keyway with the crankshaft key (6B316) on the crankshaft . Install the vibration damper on the crankshaft . Install the bolt and washer. Tighten the bolt to 149-176 Nm (110-130 lb-ft). Install the crankshaft pulley .
  1. Install the drive belt .
  1. Install the radiator electric motor , fan blade and fan shroud as an assembly as outlined in Section 03-03.
