To remove a valve cover (6582)
from the RH cylinder head (6049)
, disconnect crankcase ventilation tube (6758)
from oil filler pipe at valve cover
.
On RH cylinder head
, remove the air cleaner outlet tube (9B659)
. Remove the secondary air injection bypass valve (9F491)
and air supply hoses as necessary to provide clearance.
Disconnect the ignition wires from the spark plugs (12405)
using Spark Plug Wire Remover T74P-6666-A.
Do not pull on ignition wire. Remove the ignition wires and ignition wire separators (12297)
from the valve cover attaching stud and
position the ignition wires out of the way.
Remove upper intake manifold (9424)
as outlined.
Remove attaching bolts and remove the valve cover
.
Installation
Clean the valve covers
and the cylinder head gasket surface(s).
Position a new valve cover gasket (6584)
.
Position the valve covers
on the cylinder heads
. Tighten the bolts to 16-20 Nm
(12-15 lb-ft).
Install the crankcase ventilation tube
in the RH valve cover
.
Install upper intake manifold
.
Install the ignition wires and ignition wire separators
on the valve cover attaching stud. Connect
the ignition wires. Refer to Section 03-07A. Install the air cleaner outlet tube
(if required).
Install secondary air injection bypass valve
and air supply hoses (if required).
