Oil Bypass Filter

 

Removal

  1. Raise vehicle on hoist. Refer to Section 00-02.
  1. Position drain pan beneath engine oil pan (6675).
  1. Remove oil pan drain plug and drain.
  1. Remove oil bypass filter (6714).
 

Installation

  1. Install oil pan drain plug. Tighten to 20-34 Nm (15-25 lb-ft).
  1. Lubricate oil bypass filter gasket with Engine Assembly Lubricant D9AZ-19579-D or equivalent meeting Ford specification ESR-M99C80.
  1. Thread oil bypass filter onto adapter until gasket contacts cylinder block (6010) and then advance oil bypass filter an additional one-half turn.
  1. Lower vehicle.
  1. Refill crankcase to proper level with specified engine oil.
  1. Start engine and check for leaks.
