Crankshaft Pulley and Damper and Crankshaft Front Seal

Removal

  1. Disconnect electric fan motor (8C607) and remove fan motor , fan blade (8600) and fan shroud (8146) as an assembly from vehicle.
  1. Remove drive belt (8620) as outlined in Section 03-05.
  1. Raise vehicle on hoist. Refer to Section 00-02.

    A Tighten to 140-180 Nm (103-133 Lb-Ft)
  1. Remove crankshaft pulley and vibration damper using Crankshaft Damper Remover T58P-6316-D and Vibration Damper Remover Adapter T82L-6316-B and Front Cover Seal Installer T70P-6B070-A.

     CAUTION: Use care to prevent damage to engine front cover and crankshaft.

  1. Remove crankshaft front seal (6700) from the engine front cover (6019) using a screwdriver.
 

Installation

  1. Inspect engine front cover and crankshaft pulley (6312) for damage, nicks, burrs or other roughness which may cause the crankshaft front seal to fail. Service or replace components as necessary.
  1. Lubricate the crankshaft front seal lip with clean engine oil and install the crankshaft front seal using Damper/Front Cover Seal Installer T82L-6316-A and Front Cover Seal Installer T70P-6B070-A.
  1. Lubricate crankshaft front seal surface on the crankshaft pulley and vibration damper with clean engine oil. Install crankshaft pulley and vibration damper using Damper/Front Cover Seal Installer T82L-6316-A.
  1. Install crankshaft pulley and vibration damper retaining bolt and washer. Tighten bolt to 140-180 Nm (103-132 lb-ft).
  1. Lower vehicle.
  1. Install drive belt as outlined in Section 03-05.
  1. Install fan shroud, fan blade and fan motor assembly as outlined in Section 03-03.
  1. Start engine and check for oil leaks.
