Bumper Cover, Rear

Removal and Installation

1. Open luggage compartment door (40110) and remove luggage compartment trim panels. Refer to Section 01-05.

2. Remove two screws attached to rear of wheel opening on each side.

3. Remove seven push pins, and remove rear bumper cover (17K835) .

4. Detach fuel pocket drain hose from rear bumper (17906) .

5. Remove two nuts on each side at quarter panels and six nuts along rear panel and remove rear bumper .

6. To install, reverse Removal procedure. Tighten screws to 1.1-1.5 Nm (10-13 lb-in). Tighten nuts to 5-8 Nm (45-70 lb-in).

Support, Rear Bumper Cover

Removal and Installation

1. Remove rear bumper cover as outlined.

2. Remove two rivets retaining rear bumper cover support to rear bumper. Remove center pins from rivets using a drift punch. Remove the remainder of the rivets using a drill, being careful not to enlarge the retaining holes in the rear bumper.

3. Remove Rear Bumper Cover Mounting Reinforcement (17D942) .

4. To install, reverse Removal procedure.

1. Remove rear bumper cover mounting reinforcement as outlined.

2. Remove one bolt lower on each side retaining rear bumper bracket to body structure.

3. Remove two bolts on each side, through rear bumper , retaining rear bumper to rear body structure and remove rear bumper.

4. To install, reverse Removal procedure.
