Bumper Cover, Front

Removal and Installation

1. Drill out four license plate rivets, if required.

2. Remove two nuts and two screws retaining front bumper cover to each fender.

3. Remove one screw retaining front bumper cover to each front fender splash shield.

4. Remove three screws push pins retaining front bumper cover to structure support under radiator.

5. Remove two upper blind rivets retaining front bumper cover to radiator grille opening panel reinforcement and remove front bumper cover.

6. Remove two upper blind rivets retaining front bumper cover to radiator grille opening panel reinforcement. opening panel reinforcement.

7. Remove two rivets retaining front bumper cover support to front bumper. Remove center pins form rivets using a drift punch. Remove the remainder of the rivets using a drill. Use care not ot enlarge the retaining holes in the sheet metal.

8. Remove LH and RH headlamp bulb. Refer to Section 17-01.

9. Insert a thin screwdriver blade between the underside of the front bumper cover and the radiator grille opening panel reinforcement to release the front bumper cover locking tabs on both LH and RH sides, underneath the headlamp opening. Remove the front bumper cover while the lock tabs are lifted.

10. To install, reverse Removal procedure.

Support, Front Bumper Cover

Removal and Installation

1. Remove two rivets retaining front bumper cover support (17C947) to bumper beam. Remove center pins from rivets using a drift punch. Remove the remainder of the rivets using a drill, being careful not to enlarge the retaining holes in the sheet metal.

2. If necessary, remove outer front bumper reinforcement stop (17C817) .

3. To install, reverse Removal procedure.

Bumper, Front

1. Remove front bumper (17757) as outlined. Remove fog lamps, if equipped. Refer to Section 17-01.

2. Remove front bumper cover support and front bumper reinforcement stop as outlined.

3. On each side of vehicle (convertible only) remove one bolt and one nut retaining front bumper vibration damper to front bumper.

4. Remove two bolts and one nut attaching each fog lamp bracket to front bumper and remove brackets (if equipped).

5. Remove four bolts retaining front bumper to front bumper isolator housing and remove front bumper .

6. To install, reverse Removal procedure.

Vibration Damper

Removal and Installation

1. Remove front bumper cover support as outlined.

2. Remove one nut and one bolt attaching front vibration damper to fog lamp mounting bracket and bumper.

3. Loosen one nut attaching rear of vibration damper to front vibration damper bracket and remove front vibration damper.

4. Remove two bolts attaching front vibration damper bracket to body structure and remove front vibration damper bracket, if required.

5. To install, reverse Removal procedure.
