Care of Top Fabric

Proper care of the roof outside cover (52700) will prevent mildew and minimize shrinkage. Never lower the top when it is damp. Always use the folding top dust cover hood (54400) to keep the roof outside cover clean, dry and in position when the top is lowered.

Use the top compartment behind the rear seat back only to stow the top. Stowage of other items may damage the roof outside cover or break the back window glass (42006).

 CAUTION: Unapproved cleaners may result in damage to the roof outside cover or painted surfaces.

The roof outside cover may be washed each time the vehicle is washed. Clean the roof outside cover with Deluxe Leather and Vinyl Cleaner E0AZ-19521-AA (ESR-M14P4-A) or equivalent and a suede brush. For an extremely soiled roof outside cover , it may be necessary to repeat the cleaning operation. Rinse the roof outside cover and painted surfaces thoroughly with clean water both during and after cleaning.

The vinyl coating becomes tacky at approximately 82°C (180°F). When making paint repairs, provide a cover for the roof outside cover to protect the roof outside cover from heat.
