REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
Windshield Wiper Motor
When installing the drive arm to a new windshield wiper motor (17508)
, follow the instructions included in the new windshield wiper motor
kit.
CAUTION: The internal permanent magnets used in the windshield wiper motor
are a ceramic (glass-like) material. Care must be
exercised in handling the windshield wiper motor
to avoid damaging the magnets. The windshield wiper motor
must not be struck or tapped with a hammer or other
object.
Removal and Installation
- Disconnect the battery (10653)
and remove the windshield wiper pivot arms (17526)
and windshield wiper blades (17528)
.
- Remove the cowl vent screen (018A16)
by carefully prying up on rear edge of cowl vent screen
.
- Remove plastic cowl extension from cowl.
- Remove clip retaining windshield wiper mounting arm and pivot shaft (17566)
to windshield wiper motor link.
- Disconnect the linkage drive arm from the windshield wiper motor
.
- Disconnect the windshield wiper motor electrical connector and
remove the windshield wiper motor three retaining screws. Pull the windshield wiper motor
from the opening.
- To install, reverse Removal procedure. Tighten all motor retaining screws
to 13-17 Nm (10-12 lb-ft).
- Before installing the windshield wiper pivot arm
to the windshield wiper mounting arm and pivot shaft
, ensure the windshield wiper motor is in PARK and the windshield wiper blades
are set to Dimension X as outlined under Adjustments
.
