Section 01-16: Wiper and Washer Systems | 1994 Mustang Workshop Manual |
DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION
Windshield Washer System
The windshield washer system:
- Uses two windshield washer nozzle jet and brackets (17603)
located on the cowl top panel (02010)
.
- Is activated by pushing inward on the rotary wiper switch.
- Has a windshield washer pump (17664)
mounted inside a cavity in the windshield washer reservoir (17618)
.
- Has a windshield washer reservoir
mounted on the LH front fender apron (16054)
.
If turn signal and windshield wiper switch (13K359)
is in OFF or Interval position:
- Wipers will run as long as the rotary wiper switch is pushed in.
- When released, washers will stop immediately.
- Wipers will continue to run for three to four cycles before returning to
OFF or Interval operation.
If turn signal and windshield wiper switch
is in LO or HI position:
- Washers operate with no change in wiper operation.
The windshield washer nozzle jet and bracket
expels what appears to be a wide fan-like spray
pattern of large droplets of fluid on the windshield glass (03100)
.
- It is actually a single oscillating jet stream.
- Care should be taken to actuate the system only momentarily because of
the greater volume of fluid that is dispersed with this system.
