Window Regulator Control Switch

Power windows are optional on base sedan models and standard on GT and convertible models. On sedan models, only the front door window glasses (21410) can be raised and lowered. The quarter window opening sight shields (29726) are fixed. On convertible models, all four windows can be raised and lowered.

In addition to the components used in the manual window system, the power window system consists of:

• Window regulator control switches (14529) located in the front door trim panels (23942) .
• Window regulator electric drives (23394) which replace the manual window regulators.
• A window regulator safety relay (14677) on convertible models.
• The system wiring and circuit protection.

Two types of window regulator control switches are used:

• Sedan models have two single window regulator control switches in the driver door, one for each front door window glass .
• Convertible models have a window regulator control switch in the driver front door (20125), with a window regulator control switch for each window.
• Both sedan and convertible models have a window regulator control switch in the passenger front door (20124) to control the passenger front door window glass .

The power windows only operate with the ignition switch (11572) in the ACC or RUN position. Power is supplied through circuit breaker 14 in the fuse junction panel (14A067) . At rest, both contacts in the window regulator control switch are connected to ground.

The convertible model has a window regulator safety relay which is controlled by circuit breaker 14. An in-line circuit breaker supplies power to the window regulator control switch through the window regulator safety relay contacts.

Pressing the DOWN side of the window regulator control switch connects the DOWN lead in the window regulator electric drive to power. The UP lead is connected to ground.

Pressing the UP side of the window regulator control switch connects the UP lead in the front door power window regulator minus motor (23208) to power. The DOWN lead is connected to ground.

The passenger door window regulator control switch is wired in series between the driver window regulator control switch and the passenger door window regulator electric drive .

The convertible window regulator control switch has a separate window regulator control switch for each window. It also has a lock switch which cuts power to the passenger window regulator control switch . This allows only the driver to operate the passenger front door window glass from the window regulator control switch .

There are no window regulator control switches for the back seat passengers. The opera window glasses (29710) can only be operated from the driver's window regulator control switch .
