Inboard Tapping Plate

NOTE: This procedure does not apply to Cobra.

1. Obtain the following parts:
   • N801715-S2 - Screw - M10 x 1.50 x 45.0 Wafer Hd. Shld. Tap, one per seat
   • N620482-S2 - Nut - M10 x 1.50, one per seat

2. If the seat and front seat track (61705) was not previously removed from the vehicle, remove the seat and front seat track as outlined.

3. Remove front seat track from front seat cushion frame and spring (63100) .

4. Disengage front seat cushion cover retainers along the front, rear and inboard side of the front seat cushion frame and spring . Remove hog rings retaining front seat cushion cover (62900) at the rear of the front seat cushion frame and spring .

5. Remove and discard the shoulder screw used to retain the front seat back frame (61018) to the front seat cushion frame and spring at the inboard pivot.

6. Carefully peel up front seat back cover (64416) as required to expose the inboard pivot bracket.

7. Drill out the stripped or deformed hole in the pivot bracket using a letter "X" 10mm (0.397 inch) drill bit.
   
   
   
   

8. Carefully work the front seat back cover down over the pivot bracket sufficiently enough to permit alignment of the pivot screw to the hole in the pivot bracket.

9. Position the front seat back frame to the front seat cushion frame and spring at the inboard pivot. Install the new replacement shoulder screw (Part No. N801715-S2).
   
   
   
   

10. Install nut (Part No. N620482-S2) on the shoulder screw.

11. Using an appropriate box-end wrench to hold the nut, tighten the screw and nut to 20-43 Nm (15-32 lb-ft).
    
    
    
    

12. Install the front seat cushion cover .

13. Install the front seat track .

    NOTE: If the seat is equipped with an inertia front seat back latch (62648) , check the front seat back latch for proper operation before installing the seat assembly in the vehicle as outlined.

14. Install the seat and front seat track in the vehicle as outlined.

15. Check the front seat track for proper operation.

Outboard Tapping Plate

1. Obtain the following: N620482-S2 - Nut - M10 x 1.50, maximum two per seat.

2. If the seat and front seat track was not previously removed, remove the seat and front seat track as outlined.

3. Remove front seat back latch handle bezel (62672) .

4. Remove and save the two screws used to retain the front seat back latch to the front seat cushion frame and spring . Remove and save the shoulder screw used to retain the front seat back frame to the front seat cushion frame and spring at the inboard pivot.

5. On the outboard side of the front seat cushion frame and spring , remove the front seat track .

6. Disengage the front seat cushion cover as required to gain access to the tapping plate.

7. Drill out the stripped or deformed hole(s) in the tapping plate using a letter "X" drill bit (0.397 inch).

8. Install the front seat cushion cover .

9. Install the front seat track to the front seat cushion frame and spring . Tighten the retaining screws to 17-23 Nm (13-16 lb-ft).

10. Position the front seat back frame to the front seat cushion frame and spring . Install the two previously removed screws at the outboard attachments. For the previously drilled tapping plate hole(s), install a nut (Part No. N620482-S2) on the screw. Tighten the screws to 47-63 Nm (35-46 lb-ft). Install the removed inboard pivot attaching shoulder screw. Tighten the screw to 19-27 Nm (15-19 lb-ft).

11. Install the front seat back latch handle bezel .

12. Install the seat and front seat track as outlined.

13. Check the front seat track for proper operation.
