Instrument Cluster

Federal law requires that the odometer in any replacement speedometer must register the same mileage as that registered in the removed speedometer. Since the speedometer mileage cannot be reset on this unit, affix odometer sticker to driver's door pillar and record original vehicle mileage.

 

Disassembly

  1. Remove instrument panel lamp socket and bulb (13B765).
  1. Turn instrument cluster (10849) so instrument cluster main lens (10887) is upward. Remove retaining screws from instrument cluster main lens and instrument cluster mask (10890) and remove instrument cluster main lens and instrument cluster mask .
  1. Remove fuel/temperature gauge assembly, oil pressure/voltmeter gauge assembly, speedometer/tachometer assembly.
  1. Remove and discard all snap-in connector cups.
  1. Push connector tab in and slide instrument cluster gauge amplifier (10E849) out.
  1. Remove instrument cluster printed circuit (10K843).
 

Assembly

  1. Position the instrument cluster printed circuit over the locating pins and affix to locating pins in instrument cluster back plate (10848).
  1. Position instrument cluster gauge amplifier in guides, line up terminals over center of printed circuit connection and push instrument cluster gauge amplifier until it clicks in place.
  1. Install instrument panel lamp socket and bulb.
  1. Install new snap-in connector clips.
  1. Install speedometer/tachometer, oil pressure/voltmeter gauge assembly and fuel/temperature gauge assembly.
  1. Install instrument cluster mask, instrument cluster main lens and retaining screws.
