Steering Gear Bushing/Preload

Raise the vehicle and support on safety stands. Check for looseness (clatter) in the steering gear (3504) by moving the rack up and down and left to right. If the steering gear side is excessively loose, adjust the preload. Refer to Section 11-02. If the rack side is loose, disassemble the steering gear and service the steering gear housing sector shaft bushing (3576) in the steering gear housing (3548) assembly. Refer to Section 11-02.
