DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING

Inspection and Verification

  1. Verify the vehicle owner's original concern by operating speed control system to duplicate the condition.
  1. Inspect to determine if one of the following mechanical or electrical concerns apply:

    Mechanical Electrical
    • Speed control actuator cable not connected to throttle body .
    • Speed control actuator not connected to the speed control servo .
    • Clip missing at actuator cable adjuster.
    • Damaged speed control dump valve .
    • Damaged speed control vacuum reservoir .
    • Damaged vacuum hose(s).
    • Damaged/unplugged connector(s).
    • Circuitry open/shorted.
    • Blown fuse.
    • Damaged speed control servo .
    • Damaged speed control amplifier .
    • Damaged steering wheel switches.
    • Damaged vehicle speed sensor .
    • Damaged stoplight switch .

  1. If the concern(s) remains after inspection, determine the symptom(s) and proceed to the following Symptom Chart.
