DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION

Vehicles equipped with manual transmissions (7003) are equipped with a clutch pedal position switch (CPP switch) (11A152) which operates as follows:

In order for the engine to start, the clutch pedal (7519) must be pressed all the way to the floor.
The clutch pedal position switch is located on the pedal support bracket (01508) .
The switch plunger is retained to the clutch pedal and extends as the clutch pedal is pressed.
The clutch pedal position switch is electrically connected across the ignition switch (11572) and starter motor relay coil.
When the clutch pedal is in the released (up) position, the clutch pedal position switch maintains an open starter circuit.

The clutch pedal position switch also has two other functions:

It turns off the speed control when the clutch pedal is pressed.
It provides a fuel control signal to the powertrain control module (PCM) (12A650) .
