Ring Gear, Flywheel

Removal

1. Remove flywheel (6375) as outlined.

2. Support flywheel on a flat and stable stand that will allow ring gear to separate from flywheel .

3. Use welding gloves and safety goggles.

4. Expand ring gear by evenly heating it with an acetylene torch.

5. Use a brass drift and hammer to drive the ring gear off flywheel . Tap ring gear evenly to prevent binding.

Installation

1. Expand the replacement ring gear by heating gear on a flat metal surface. Keep torch moving to prevent hot spots.

2. Use welding gloves and goggles or tongs and safety goggles to place ring gear on the flywheel .

3. Use a brass drift and hammer to drive ring gear onto flywheel . Tap gear evenly to prevent binding.
