Dowels, Flywheel Housing to Block

 
 

Removal

Flywheel housing to block dowels (6397) can be removed by using a drift pin where the flywheel housing to block dowel is installed in a drilled hole, and locking-type pliers where the flywheel housing to block dowel is installed in a blind hole. They should be pulled or driven from their seat, taking care not to damage surface area around flywheel housing to block dowel .

 

Installation

All solid-type flywheel housing to block dowels can be installed by driving them into place using a brass or plastic mallet. Care should be exercised to drive the flywheel housing to block dowel squarely into place until fully seated and not to damage surrounding surface areas.

 

Hollow Dowels

Installation can be easily accomplished by fabricating a simple tool from steel or brass dowel stock. Insert the tool into the flywheel housing to block dowel , and with the flywheel housing to block dowel squarely in position, drive it into the hole in the engine cylinder block (6010) until it is fully seated.
