INSTALLATION

Extension Housing

  1. Apply a 3.2mm (1/8-inch) bead of Silicone Rubber D6AZ-19562-AA or BA or equivalent meeting Ford specification ESB-M4G92-A and ESE-M4G195-A on the extension housing-to-transmission mating surface.



  1. Coat shifter interlock spring (7234) with petroleum jelly and install in the gearshift offset lever (7F018) .
  1. Lubricate detent plate and install detent ball in the NEUTRAL position on the plate.



  1. Position gearshift offset lever in extension housing (7A039) with shifter interlock spring over detent ball.
  1. Slide gearshift offset lever and extension housing into position as an assembly.



  1. Press downward on the gearshift offset lever to compress the shifter interlock spring and push the gearshift offset lever and extension housing into position.
  1. Install extension housing retaining bolts. Tighten to 47-61 Nm (30-45 lb-ft).
  1. Using a suitable pin punch, align the hole in the gearshift shaft and offset lever (7358) with the hole in gearshift offset lever and install the roll pin.
  1. Install damper sleeve in gearshift offset lever .
  1. Apply a 3.2mm (1/8 inch) bead of Silicone Rubber D6AZ-19562-AA or BA or equivalent meeting Ford specification ESB-M4G92-A and ESE-M4G195-A on the shift control selector lever and housing (7210) .
  1. Position shift control selector lever and housing on extension housing and install retaining bolts. Tighten the bolts to 17-20 Nm (12-15 lb-ft).
  1. Install transmission case plug (7A010). Tighten to 17-29 Nm (12-22 lb-ft).
  1. Install a new input shaft and extension housing seal (7052) using Extension Housing Seal Replacer T61L-7657-A.



  1. Install transmission as outlined.
