REMOVAL

Extension Housing

Removal

  1. Remove transmission (7003) as outlined.
  1. Mount transmission in Bench Mounted Holding Fixture T57L-500-B.
  1. Using a 3/8-inch drive ratchet and extension, remove drain plug located on the lower RH side of the transmission case (7005) .



  1. Position shift control selector lever and housing (7210) in the NEUTRAL detent. Remove shift control selector lever and housing retaining bolts using a 13mm socket.



  1. Using a suitable pry bar, break the turret cover-to-extension housing seal by carefully prying between the extension housing (7A039) and cover. Remove the assembly.



     CAUTION: Do not attempt to remove the gearshift offset lever (7F018) while the extension housing is bolted in place. A lug, located on the bottom of the gearshift offset lever , meshes with the detent plate preventing enough rearward movement of the gearshift offset lever to allow removal.

  1. Using a 5mm (3/16-inch) pin punch and hammer, remove roll pin retaining gearshift offset lever to shifter shaft.



  1. Using a 15mm socket, remove the eight extension housing retaining bolts.



  1. Using a suitable pry bar, break the extension housing-to-case seal by carefully prying between the extension housing and case .



  1. Remove input shaft and extension housing seal (7052) from extension housing with Impact Slide Hammer T50T-100-A and Seal Remover TOOL-1175-AC or equivalent.
