REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

Brake Shoe and Lining

Removal

  1. Raise vehicle on a hoist. Refer to Section 00-02.
  1. Remove wheel (1007) and tire assembly.
  1. Remove screw retaining brake hose bracket to shock absorber bracket.
  1. Remove retaining clip from parking brake rear cable and conduit (2A635) at rear disc brake caliper (2552) . Remove parking brake rear cable and conduit end from rear parking brake cable (2A637) .
  1. Hold disc brake caliper locating pin hex-heads with open-end wrench. Remove upper rear brake pin retainer (2N386) .
  1. Rotate rear disc brake caliper away from rear disc brake rotor (2C026) .



  1. Remove inner and outer rear brake shoe and lining (2200) and disc brake pad anti-rattle clip (2B164) from rear disc support bracket (2B511) .
 

Installation

NOTE: Ensure that one of the two slots in rear disc brake piston face is positioned so it will engage nib on rear brake shoe and lining .

  1. Using Rear Caliper Piston Adjuster T87P-2588-A, rotate rear disc brake piston and adjuster (2B588) clockwise until it is fully seated.







  1. Insert the disc brake pad anti-rattle clips and install inner and outer brake rear brake shoes and linings on rear disc support bracket .
  1. Rotate rear disc brake caliper assembly over rear disc brake rotor into position on rear disc support bracket . Ensure that brake rear brake shoes and linings and disc brake pad anti-rattle clips are installed correctly.
  1. Apply Threadlock Sealer E0AZ-19554-AA or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSK-M2G315-A5 (Type II) to upper rear brake pin retainer threads. Install rear brake pin retainer and tighten to 40-47 Nm (30-35 lb-ft) while holding disc brake caliper locating pins (2B296) with an open-end wrench.
  1. Attach parking brake rear cable and conduit end to rear parking brake cable . Install cable retaining clip on rear disc brake caliper assembly. Tighten screw to 40-50 Nm (30-37 lb-ft).
  1. Install wheel and tire assembly. Tighten wheel hub bolt nuts (1012) to 109-142 Nm (80-105 lb-ft).
  1. Lower vehicle.
