REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

Rotor

 

Removal

  1. Removal the wheel and tire from the wheel hub (1104) . Be careful to avoid damage to or interference with the wheel cylinder bleeder screw (2208) and caliper front disc brake rotor shield (2K005).

     CAUTION: Handle the front disc brake rotor (1125) and front disc brake caliper (2B121) assemblies in such a way as to avoid damage to the front disc brake rotor and nicking, scratching, or contamination of the brake shoe and lining (2001) .

  1. Remove the front disc brake caliper /anchor assembly from the front wheel spindle (3105) and the front disc brake rotor . If the front disc brake caliper does not require servicing, it is not necessary to disconnect the front brake hose (2078) . Position the front disc brake caliper out of the way, and support it with a wire to avoid damaging the front disc brake caliper or stretching the front brake hose . Insert a clean, cardboard spacer between the brake shoe and lining to prevent the inner brake shoe and lining from coming out of the front disc brake caliper and being damaged by falling on the floor.
  1. Remove front disc brake rotor assembly from wheel hub . Label front disc brake rotor left and right.

    NOTE: If excessive force must be used during front disc brake rotor removal, the front disc brake rotor should be checked for lateral runout prior to installation.

    If additional force is required to remove front disc brake rotor , apply Rust Penetrant and Inhibitor F2AZ-19A501-A or equivalent meeting Ford specification ESE-M99C56-A on front disc brake rotor/wheel hub mating surfaces. First, strike front disc brake rotor between studs with a plastic hammer. If this does not work, attach 3-Jaw Puller D80L-1013-A or equivalent and remove front disc brake rotor .

 

Installation

  1. If the front disc brake rotor is being replaced, remove the protective coating from the new front disc brake rotor with Carburetor Tune-Up Cleaner D9AZ-19579-BA or -AA or equivalent meeting Ford specification ESRM14P9-A.
  1. Install the front disc brake rotor assembly on the wheel hub .
  1. Mount the front disc brake caliper assembly on the front wheel spindle as outlined.
