Except Cobra

Removal

1. Raise vehicle on hoist. Refer to Section 00-02.

2. Remove wheel and tire assembly from rotor mounting face. Use care to avoid damage or interference with wheel cylinder bleeder screw (2208) during removal.

3. Mark front disc brake caliper (2B121) assembly to ensure it is installed on correct front wheel spindle (3105) during installation.

4. Disconnect front brake hose (2078) from front disc brake caliper . Remove hollow retaining bolt that connects front brake hose fitting to front disc brake caliper . Remove hose assembly from front disc brake caliper and plug front brake hose .

5. Remove lower disc brake caliper locating pin (2B296) .

6. Rotate front disc brake caliper approximately 90 degrees away from anchor assembly.

7. Slide front disc brake caliper away from anchor until front disc brake caliper disengages from upper disc brake caliper locating pin .

Installation

1. Install replacement front disc brake caliper by engaging upper disc brake caliper locating pin into insulator.

2. Rotate front disc brake caliper assembly in place on anchor.

   NOTE: A new disc brake caliper locating pin is recommended due to the thread locking compound provided on threads.

3. Install lower disc brake caliper locating pin . Tighten to 88 Nm (65 lb-ft).

4. Remove plug and install front brake hose on front disc brake caliper with new copper washers on each side of fitting outlet. Insert new retaining bolt through washers and fittings. Tighten bolts to 50 Nm (36.8 lb-ft).

5. Bleed brake system. Refer to Section 06-00. Always replace rubber bleed screw cap after bleeding.

6. Fill brake master cylinder (2140) as required.

7. Install wheel and tire assembly. Tighten wheel hub bolt nuts (1012) to 130 Nm (95 lb-ft).

8. Lower vehicle.

9. Pump brake pedal prior to moving vehicle to position brake shoe and lining (2001) .

10. Road test vehicle.

Cobra

Removal

1. Raise vehicle on hoist. Refer to Section 00-02.

2. Remove wheel and tire assembly from rotor mounting face. Use care to avoid damage or interference with wheel cylinder bleeder screw during removal.

3. Mark front disc brake caliper to ensure it is installed on correct front wheel spindle during installation.

4. Disconnect front brake hose from front disc brake caliper . Remove hollow retaining bolt that connects front brake hose fitting to front disc brake caliper. Remove hose assembly from front disc brake caliper and plug front brake hose.

5. Remove circlip, washer and disc brake caliper locating pin .

6. Remove front disc brake caliper from front disc brake rotor (1125) and mounting bracket.

7. Clean any residue from mounting bracket brake shoe contact surfaces.

Installation

1. Install replacement front disc brake caliper over front disc brake rotor and onto mounting bracket. Make sure that guiding surfaces on the brake shoe and lining and mounting bracket are seated correctly.

2. Install disc brake caliper locating pin and circlip by pressing front disc brake caliper down to compress bias springs and disc brake caliper locating pin into position and securing with washer and circlip.

3. Install brake hose fitting with new copper washers on either side to front disc brake caliper and tighten to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft).

4. Bleed brake system. Refer to Section 06-00. Always replace rubber bleed screw cap after bleeding.

5. Fill brake master cylinder as required.

6. Install wheel and tire assembly. Tighten wheel hub bolt nut to 115-142 Nm (95-105 lb-ft).

7. Lower vehicle.

8. Pump brake pedal (2455) prior to moving vehicle to position brake shoe and lining .

9. Road test vehicle.
