Grease or any other foreign material must be kept off lining surfaces and
braking surfaces of front disc brake rotor (1125)
, and external surfaces of wheel hub (1104)
during service operation. In handling front disc brake rotor
and front disc brake caliper (2B121)
assemblies, avoid deformation, nicking or scratching of brake shoe and lining (2001)
and front disc brake rotor
.
If a wheel cylinder piston (2196)
is removed for any reason, piston seal and dust boot
must be replaced. Exercise care not to damage wheel cylinder piston
by protecting it from contact with any metal or sharp
edged objects.
During removal and installation of a wheel assembly, exercise care not to
interfere with or damage front disc brake rotor shield (2K005)
, if so equipped, or the wheel cylinder bleeder screw (2208)
.
Vehicle must be centered on hoist before servicing any front end components
to avoid bending or damaging wheel cylinder bleeder screw
, if so equipped, on full right or left wheel turns.
Refer to Section 00-02.
Do not attempt to clean or restore oil or grease-soaked brake shoes and linings
. When contaminated brake shoes and linings
are found, brake shoes and linings
must be replaced in complete axle sets and
rotor braking surfaces wiped clean.
The LH and RH front disc brake calipers
must be installed on the correct side of
the vehicle to be sure the wheel cylinder bleeder screw
is in the topmost position for proper purging of air
from the front brake system during bleeding.
