CLEANING AND INSPECTION

Brakes, Disc

  1. Raise vehicle on hoist. Refer to Section 00-02.
  1. Remove the wheel (1007) and tire from the wheel hub (1104) and front disc brake rotor (1125) .
  1. Inspect brake shoe and lining (2001) for wear. If the lining is worn to within 3mm (1/8 inch) of the shoe, replace all four brake shoe and lining assemblies (complete axle set). The rubber caliper insulators and the plastic sleeves (if equipped) must be replaced when brake shoe and lining are replaced.
  1. Visually check the front disc brake caliper (2B120) . If the caliper housing is leaking, it should be replaced. If a seal is leaking, the front disc brake caliper must be disassembled and new seals installed. If a wheel cylinder piston (2196) is seized in the bore, a new caliper housing is required.
  1. Lower vehicle.
