REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

Axle Dampers

 

Handling Suspension

Removal

  1. Raise vehicle on a hoist and support the rear axle housing (4010) . Refer to Section 00-02.
  1. Remove wheel (1007) and tire assembly.
  1. Remove rear axle driveline vibration damper front retaining pivot bolt.
  1. Remove axle damper rear retaining nut. Remove rear axle drive line vibration damper (4A263) and washers.
 

Installation

  1. Install washers, rear axle drive line vibration damper and nut on rear mounting bracket. Do not tighten nut.
  1. Position rear axle drive line vibration damper in front bracket and install pivot bolt into weld nut on the axle bracket.
  1. Tighten rear retaining nut to 76-103 Nm (57-75 lb-ft).
  1. Tighten front retaining bolt to 76-103 Nm (57-75 lb-ft).
  1. Install wheel and tire assembly.
  1. Lower vehicle.
