Components

 CAUTION: Rear suspension fasteners are important parts because they could affect the performance of vital components and systems and/or could result in major service expense. They must be replaced with the same part number or with an equivalent part if replacement becomes necessary. Do not use a replacement part of lesser quality or substitute design. Torque values must be used as specified during reassembly to ensure proper retention of this part.

• Stamped rear suspension arm and bushing (5500) : one per side, controls lateral (side-to-side) movement of vehicle.
• Stamped rear suspension lower arm (5A649) : manage rear axle housings (4010) forward and rearward movement.
• Rear spring (5560): controls suspension travel and provides ride height control.
• Rear shock absorber (18125): provides necessary suspension damping, and also provides controlled entry into the full travel conditions through an internal rebound stop and integral jounce bumper.
• Rear axle drive line vibration damper (4A263): 5.0L Mustang, controls rotational forces during power applications, braking and side-to-side movement.
• Rear stabilizer bar (5A772): resists body roll during cornering.
• Suspension bushings and insulators: all suspension mounting points are rubber-insulated to minimize road noise and vibration to the passengers.
