DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING

Inspection and Verification

  1. Verify the vehicle owner's original concern by operating the engine cooling system to duplicate the concern.
  1. Inspect to determine if one of the following mechanical or electrical concerns apply:

    Mechanical Electrical
    • Damaged hoses.
    • Loose/damaged hose clamps.
    • Damaged water thermostat .
    • Damaged head gaskets .
    • Damaged intake manifold gaskets .
    • Damaged water pump .
    • Damaged radiator .
    • Damaged radiator coolant recovery reservoir .
    • Damaged heater core .
    • Circuitry open/shorted.
    • Damaged constant control relay module.
    • Damaged radiator electric motor , fan blade and fan shroud assembly.

  1. If the concern(s) remains after the inspection, determine the symptom(s) and proceed to the following Symptom Chart.
