Door Alignment

NOTE: Do not cover up poor door alignment with a latch striker adjustment.

The door hinges provide sufficient adjustment to correct most door misalignment conditions. The holes of the hinge and/or the hinge attaching points are enlarged or elongated to provide for hinge and door alignment. The lubrication points on the door hinges are shown.

  1. Determine which hinge screws must be loosened to move the door in the desired direction.
  1. Loosen the hinge screws just enough to permit movement of the front door (20124) with a padded pry bar.
  1. Move the front door the estimated necessary distance. Tighten the hinge screws to 25-35 Nm (18-26 lb-ft). Check front door fit to be sure there is no bind or interference with the adjacent panel.
  1. Repeat the operation until the desired fit is obtained. Check the striker plate alignment for proper front door closing.
  1. On all convertible models, the front door window glass (21410) and quarter glass must be checked to ensure proper alignment to the roof rail and vertical weatherstrips. Refer to Section 01-17.
