REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

Hood

 

Removal

  1. Open and support the hood (16612) . Mark the hood hinge locations on the hood .
  1. Protect the body with covers to prevent damage to the paint.
  1. Remove the two nuts retaining each hood hinge (16796) to the hood , taking care not to let the hood slip when the bolts are removed.
  1. Remove hood ground strap.
  1. Disconnect hood lamp.

    7 Nuts (2 Req'd Each Side)
    A Tighten to 4.0-9.6 Nm (36-84 Lb-In)
  1. Remove the hood from the vehicle.
 

Installation

  1. Position the hood to hood hinges by using original paint marking for initial positioning. Install retaining nuts. Tighten retaining nuts to 19-26 Nm (14-19 lb-ft). Remove the body covers.
  1. Connect ground strap.
  1. Connect hood lamp wiring.
  1. Adjust the hood bumper (16758) for an even fit between the front fenders (16005) and a flush fit with the front of the front fenders .
  1. Adjust the hood latch (16700) if necessary.
