REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

Compressor

NOTE: Whenever a compressor is replaced, it will be necessary to replace the suction accumulator/drier.

Tools Required:

 

Removal

  1. Discharge refrigerant system following recommended procedures outlined in Section 12-00.
  1. Disconnect compressor clutch wires at the field coil connector on the compressor.
  1. Remove discharge line from manifold and tube assembly using 1/2-inch Spring Lock Coupling Tool T81P-19623-G2.
  1. Remove suction line using 5/8-inch Spring Lock Coupling Tool T83P-19623-C.
  1. Remove accessory drive belt.
  1. Raise vehicle and remove four bolts retaining compressor to the mounting bracket.
  1. Remove two screws attaching heater water return tube to underside of engine supports.
  1. Remove compressor from underside of vehicle.
 

Installation

  1. Position compressor to compressor bracket and install four bolts.
  1. Attach two screws attaching heater water return tube to underside of engine supports.
  1. Install accessory drive belt.
  1. Install the suction line to suction manifold. Use new O-rings lubricated with clean refrigerant oil.
  1. Install discharge line spring lock fitting to manifold and tube assembly. Use new O-rings lubricated with clean refrigerant oil.
  1. Connect compressor clutch wire connector to field coil connector at the compressor.
  1. Leak test, evacuate and charge the system following the procedures outlined in Section 12-00.
  1. Check system for proper operation. Refer to Section 12-00.
