ADJUSTMENTS
Temperature Control Cable
The temperature control cable is self-adjusting with the movement of the
temperature selector knob to its fully clockwise position in the red band on
the face of the control assembly. To prevent kinking of the control wire, a
preset adjustment should be made before attempting to perform the
self-adjustment operation. The preset adjustment may be performed either with
the cable installed in the vehicle or before cable installation.
Cable Preset and Self-Adjustment
Before Installation
- Insert the end of a small pocket screwdriver in the end loop of the
temperature control cable, at the temperature door crank arm end.
Control Cable Preset Adjustment

- Slide the self-adjusting clip down the control wire (away from the end
loop) approximately 25mm (1 inch).
- Install the cable assembly.
- Turn the temperature control knob fully clockwise to position the
self-adjusting clip.
- Check for proper control operation.
After Installation
- Turn the temperature selector knob to the COOL position.
- Hold the temperature door crank arm firmly in position, insert the blade of
a small pocket screwdriver into the wire end loop, as shown in the previous
illustration, and pull the cable wire through the self-adjusting clip until
there is a space of approximately 25mm (1 inch) between the clip and the wire
end loop.
- Turn the temperature control knob fully clockwise to position the
self-adjusting clip.
- Check for proper control operation.
