Floor Console Assembly

A console panel front support is located to the upper surface of the transmission tunnel just forward of the transmission shift lever. A console panel rear support assembly is riveted to the upper surface of the tunnel just rearward of the parking brake.

Floor Console Assembly

The floor console assembly attaches to these supports as well as to the instrument panel at its upper, forward end. A console top panel assembly attaches to the console at the forward end of the top panel, and through the console to the support assembly at the rear.

Removal and Installation

1. Disconnect negative battery ground cable.

2. Remove four screws which attach console top panel assembly to console assembly.

3. Lift console top panel assembly off console assembly and disconnect two electrical connectors.

4. Remove two screws which attach rear end of console assembly to console panel support assembly.

5. Remove four screws which attach console assembly to console panel front support.

6. Remove four screws which attach console assembly to instrument panel.

7. Lift console assembly off transmission tunnel.

   NOTE: The console assembly includes a snap-in finish panel which conceals the A/C-heater control assembly retaining screws. To gain access to these screws, it is not necessary to remove the floor console.

8. To install floor console assembly, reverse Removal procedure.
