Weatherstrip Adjustments
A-Pillar Weatherstrip
A-Pillar Seal Not Centered
- If the A-pillar weatherstrip is not centered on the door glass with the
door closed and the glass in the full up position, the weatherstrip retainer
must be adjusted inboard/outboard.
- Disengage the weatherstrip retaining clip from the retainer by pulling
upward. Disengage the weatherstrip from the retainer to gain access to the
mounting screws. Loosen the screws, install the weatherstrip, and close the
door. Cycle the door glass a few times to center the retainer.

- Lower the glass. Carefully disengage the weatherstrip from the retainer and
tighten the screws. Install the weatherstrip and close the door.
- Cycle the door glass and check that the weatherstrip is centered on the
glass.
Gap at Top of A-Pillar
- If a gap is present at the top of the A-pillar between the A-pillar
weatherstrip and the convertible top header weatherstrip, the A-pillar
weatherstrip must be raised.
- Disengage the weatherstrip retaining clip from the retainer by pulling
upward. Disengage the weatherstrip from the retainer. Carefully separate the
lower end of the weatherstrip from the A-pillar at the base of the retainer.
- Clean the adhesive from the weatherstrip and A-pillar.
- Install the weatherstrip in the retainer so that no gap is present at the
header weatherstrip.
- Apply Weatherstrip Adhesive E8AZ-19552-A (ESB-M2G14-A) or equivalent, on
the lower end of the weatherstrip and the A-pillar, and position the
weatherstrip on the A-pillar.
- Cycle the convertible top a few times to ensure the gap has been eliminated.
Intermediate Rail Weatherstrip
NOTE: On some vehicles, the weatherstrip is installed with adhesive. If the
weatherstrip must be adjusted, carefully remove the weatherstrip from the
retainer and clean the adhesive from the retainer channel and the weatherstrip.
- If a gap is present between the front rail and intermediate rail
weatherstrips, slide the intermediate rail weatherstrip forward until the gap
is eliminated. Apply Weatherstrip Adhesive E8AZ-19552-A (ESB-M2G14-A) or
equivalent, on the weatherstrip and retainer before adjusting the weatherstrip.

NOTE: Ensure the rear of the weatherstrip is still making a good seal at the
C-pillar weatherstrip.
- If a gap is present between the C-pillar weatherstrip and the intermediate
rail weatherstrip, slide the intermediate rail weatherstrip rearward until the
gap has been eliminated. Apply Weatherstrip Adhesive E8AZ-19552-A (ESB-M2G14-A)
or equivalent on the weatherstrip and retainer before adjustment.

NOTE: Ensure the front of the weatherstrip is still making a good seal at the
front rail weatherstrip.
- If the intermediate rail weatherstrip is not centered inboard/outboard on
the top of the quarter window, remove the weatherstrip from the seal retainer
and loosen the retaining screws enough to allow the retainer to move
inboard/outboard as necessary.

NOTE: Remove the protective caps from the screw threads on top of the
intermediate rail.
- Install the weatherstrip in the seal retainer and raise the quarter window.
Lower the quarter window and install the retaining screw. Install the
weatherstrip.
Raise the quarter window and check that the weatherstrip is
still aligned to the quarter window. Repeat procedure, if necessary.
- After the weatherstrip has been adjusted inboard/outboard, apply
Weatherstrip Adhesive E8AZ-19552-A (ESB-M2G14-A) or equivalent, to the
weatherstrip and retainer. Install the weatherstrip in the retainer, making
sure there are no gaps at the front rail and C-pillar weatherstrips. Install
protective caps on screw threads.
